Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan will reinstate a hard border with South Australia from midday AWST in response to the state’s growing outbreak.

South Australia has recorded two new COVID-19 cases in its second day of what is projected to be a seven-day lockdown for a total of 14 in the outbreak.

“Western Australia is changing its border arrangements with South Australia to bring in a hard border,” Mr McGowan said.

“After discussions this morning with the chief health minister, the chief health officer, the police commissioner, the decision has been made to reclassify South Australia as medium risk, this means only exempt travellers will be able to Western Australia from South Australia.”
