Liverpool will be back in Premier League action this evening when they take on Arsenal.

The Reds head into the game looking to bounce back from a 3-2 loss at the hands of West Ham in gameweek 11.
Arsenal, though, will likely prove a stern test for Jurgen Klopp’s side, as they have not lost a game since before the September international break, and could, with a win on Saturday, climb above the Merseysiders in the English top-flight table.
Ahead of the game, an interesting stat has emerged concerning Sadio Mane.
Mane has of course made up one-third of Liverpool’s lethal front three over the last several years.
However, especially in the 2021/22 campaign, Mane’s efforts have gone somewhat under the radar.
This is not too surprising given that Mohamed Salah is on course to have perhaps his best-ever season as a professional footballer.
Salah has, so far, scored 15 and assisted six in 15 outings across all competitions for Liverpool this term.
Mane, meanwhile, has scored eight and assisted none. Though still a solid return, it is easy to see why Mane has been overshadowed by Salah.
The aforementioned stat Mane leads the Premier League in at the time of writing could suggest that it is his off-the-ball work which is actually benefiting Salah, and Liverpool as a team, greatly.
As per the Liverpool Echo Mane leads the PL for most off-the-ball runs this season.
An off-the-ball run is defined as ‘a sustained off-ball movement, made with intensity, in order to receive a pass or create space’.
That last part, in particular, is key, as Mane’s runs, especially those into the attacking third, are key to opening up opposition backlines which, in turn, allows more space for players like Salah.
So, though Mane does not perhaps get the credit he sometimes deserves, there is no doubt his off-the-ball work is key to Liverpool’s attack functioning well.
