Newcastle are interested in the services of FC Barcelona and France star, Ousmane Dembele, according to reports stemming from Spain.
Eddie Howe was named as Newcastle’s new head coach earlier this month.
Howe joined whilst facing up to the mammoth task of keeping the North East outfit in the top-flight.
At present, though, that seems pretty unlikely after 12 games of the campaign. Newcastle are dead bottom of the Premier League table, and are the only side in the division yet to pick up a single win this term.
They also have the joint-worst defence at present, having conceded a hefty 27 goals.
In turn, given the size of the task facing Howe, it seems imperative that Newcastle spend well in the upcoming January transfer window.
And the club’s new boss is seemingly being backed to do so, with it reported that the former Bournemouth man could have £50m to spend in the winter market, as well as bringing some players in on loan.

And now, one potential target of the North East outfit appears to have been revealed.
As per the Mirror, citing Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele has received ‘an astronomical proposal’ from Newcastle:
Dembele has received ‘an astronomical proposal’ from the Magpies, who are reportedly willing to offer him over a staggering €15million (£12.6m) per season on top of the same fee as a tempting signing on bonus.
Dembele is, of course, currently out of action, and has played just two games all season because of injury. With the 24-year-old out of contract next year, though, perhaps Barca would be wise to sell him now, rather than losing the winger for nothing in the summer?
