Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev to clash in exhibition match in Mexico City

Russian tennis stars Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev will face off in an exhibition match scheduled for March 21, 2022, in Mexico City. Medvedev and Rublev are the highest-ranked Russian tennis players as Medvedev is ranked at No.
2 in the world, while Rublev sits three places above at No. 5. Medvedev and Rublev have clashed five times and Medvedev owns a convincing 4-1 head-to-head record. However, Rublev won their last meeting as he beat Medvedev at this year's Cincinnati Masters.
The Medvedev and Rublev exhibition match will take place the day after the Indian Wells Masters final.
Rublev failed to make it past the group stage at the ATP Finals, while Medvedev suffered a 6-4 6-4 loss to Alexander Zverev in the final.
“I didn’t feel amazing,” Medvedev said after the final. “Tough to say. Maybe some tiredness of the body. Maybe just mentally was not a hundred percent. Not that I didn’t want to be. But, yeah, definitely something was missing.
I don’t have the answer to be honest what. “It made a difference. Even when it (his serve) was in, was not really going on the line, didn’t have this spark, if we can say like this, on it. Wasn’t enough.
Sascha is a great player to be able to break me two times, which actually sometimes is in a way not too bad. When you play in a Masters final on a fast surface, somebody serving like Sascha, it’s enough to win the match."
Medvedev beat Zverev in the group stage but lost in the final. “I think at our level it's interesting because, of course, we're all going to try to do something different, to prepare differently, to play differently.
I felt that he was doing something differently. Maybe I lost the first break of serve because of this,” Medvedev said. "I tried to change up things I have been doing. I felt that it was working good. But I just couldn't return his serve a few times. It was tnough for him to win the match."
