Alexander Zverev confirms he will defend Acapulco title in 2022

World No. 3 Alexander Zverev has confirmed that he plans to play Acapulco next year as he is hoping to defend his title at the event. Zverev, 24, captured his maiden Acapulco title earlier this year after beating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Acapulco final.
Zverev enjoyed strong runs in Acapulco in the past but it was only this year that he managed to go all the way at the event. Zverev made the Acapulco semifinal in 2018 before ending runner-up at the event a year later. In a video posted on the tournament's Twitter account, Zverev said this year in Acapulco was special hit he's hoping the next year will be even more special.

"Look, I've won on every level except for the Slams. It's the only thing I'm missing and I'll do whatever I can to change that next season. I'm already looking forward to 2022, because I know that I still have things to improve," Zverev told Sport Klub after winning the ATP Finals.
Djokovic was tipped by world No. 1 Novak Djokovic to become a Grand Slam champion. "Of course we want to win against each other, but there is that respect and appreciation for each other that is more important than winning or losing.
That's something that I always had with Sascha. I really appreciate that,” Djokovic said. “I wish him all the best. He's a great guy, fantastic tennis player, I'm sure soon to be a Grand Slam champion."
Daniil Medvedev also believes that Zverev is capable of winning a Grand Slam but added that doesn't mean he will win one. "He is a great player that is capable of beating anybody. He definitely can win a Grand Slam because it's just obvious.
But he's not the only one. That's where it gets tough. He was in the semis in the US Open, and lost in five sets. Who knows, maybe if he was in the final, he would beat me," Medvedev said. “It's just a matter of every tournament is a different scenario, different surface.
You need to win seven matches to be a Grand Slam champion. Is he capable? Yes. Is he going to do it? We never know."
