'That shows how much Roger Federer loves the game', says former star

The Australian tennis federation, organizer among other things of the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the year, has lost more than 100 million Australian dollars (about 70.8 million dollars or 62.2 million euros) due to the impact that Covid had in the tournament last year, in the 2020-2021 season.

According to the ocean federation’s annual report, the losses are due to many particular reasons, including the high cost of quarantines for tennis players, strict security measures, and restrictions on stadium audiences.

Tennis Australia, the official name of this organization, released the report and the reasons for these huge and heavy losses: “This result is in line with expectations and reflects the challenges in the business environment that we had to face during the Coronavirus Pandemic.

” Last year, to curb losses, the federation changed the fiscal period from June to September so that organizers could include the A $ 24 million lost in that period. Tennis Australia will hold the next Australian Open in January and also because of these losses, as well as obviously the safety of the people, added that it has adapted to Covid and for the Australian tournament it will require vaccination against Covid not only the public and the employees but also all the tennis players on the circuit.

Roger Federer’s long-awaited 2022 comeback has some serious question marks against it. The Swiss, who has played just four tournaments since the 2020 Australian Open, has been missing from action since Wimbledon this year due to a recurring knee injury.

Federer will not be playing at the Australian Open

Former Australia No. 1 Mark Philippousis weighed in on Roger Federer’s future following the Champions Tennis event. The Aussie said that Federer is doing the right thing by refusing to rush his comeback.

“This is the first time he (Roger Federer) has struggled with injuries and had surgeries and that’s a different story, especially with the knees,” Philippousis said. “But he’s doing the right thing, he can’t rush this.

Can he come back? The biggest thing for me was watching him at the French Open where there were no crowds — he’s playing five sets [two four-set matches back-to-back], he’s fighting, he’s pumping his fists. That shows how much he loves the game.

The passion he still has for the game is incredible,” he said. It’s only logical to assume that the tournament organizers at Halle will be welcoming Federer if he is deemed to fit to play ahead of the event. The much-awaited comeback of the Swiss this year didn’t go well as he only managed to play few tournaments and focused on the grass-court season.
