Andy Murray fans will be denied a chance to see the Hall of Famer in action this week in Queen’s after the former No. 1 had to withdraw due to the abdominal injury he suffered Sunday late in his final loss at Stuttgart to Matteo Berrettini.
“After having a scan this afternoon, an abdominal injury means I won’t be fit to compete at Queen’s this year,” said Murray. “The tournament means a lot to me, and it’s disappointing not to compete, especially after playing some good matches on the grass already.”
Murray was due to face Lorenzo Sonego with a potential rematch against Berrettini in the second round.
The 5-time champion will now try to get ready for Wimbledon which begins in 14 days.
