With Chelsea once again breaking the bank last week as they welcomed Mykhailo Mudryk to Stamford Bridge in a deal worth up to £89million, clubs from across England’s top-flight have really been splashing their cash this month.
As some still expect what could be a record-breaking January transfer window, it has been heavily suggested that we could be set for a hectic final end to this month’s market.
With teams from both ends of the Premier League table desperately looking to strengthen their squads before the window slams shut, all eyes will soon fall on Deadline Day.
In what could turn out to be a real race against the clock for many clubs, we have taken a look at a few Premier League stars who have been linked with a late January switch.
Hakim Ziyech – Chelsea
While Hakim Ziyech might have now started back-to-back Premier League matchups for Chelsea, it has been heavily suggested that the ex-Ajax star is available to leave Stamford Bridge this month.
Although the 29-year-old might have received a string of plaudits after guiding Morocco to a history-making World Cup semi-final last month, Ziyech is still waiting to open his domestic account this season.
Likewise, watching on as both Noni Madueke and Mudryk arrived in west London over the past week, it is believed that the 50-cap international will struggle to get regular first-team action under Graham Potter.
With the former European champions now focused on slashing their bumper wage bill before the window slams shut, it appears that Ziyech has a string of European admirers.
Along with speculation regarding a potential shock move to London rivals Tottenham, Spanish outlet Sport are reporting that Barcelona are all keeping tabs on Ziyech’s ongoing situation.
The report also suggests that Potter’s side are open to a potential swap deal that would include Ivory Coast midfielder Franck Kessie.
Anthony Gordon – Everton
Not even coming off the bench as Everton slumped to a 2-0 loss away at West Ham on Saturday afternoon, it appears almost certain that Anthony Gordon will be on his way out of Goodison Park this month.
While the England U21 star might have played a vital role as the Toffees extended on their Premier League status last season, Gordon has failed to find any kind of form this time around.
With the 21-year-old bagging just a single top-flight strike since the end of August, Everton’s homegrown star has quickly fallen out of favour on Mersyside and his relationship with supporters has turned toxic.
However, while the relegation scrappers might have rejected Chelsea’s eye-watering £60million approach last summer, 90min reported over the weekend that the Goodison hierarchy have changed their stance.
Likewise, with The Daily Mail reporting last week that Premier League high-flyers Newcastle are keen on agreeing a quickfire deal this month, it has also been suggested that Gordon himself is keen on a move away.
Michail Antonio – West Ham
While Michail Antonio might have once again spearheaded West Ham’s charge in Saturday’s crucial 2-0 victory against Everton, it appears that the 32-year-old has slipped down David Moyes’ pecking order.
With the Hammers announcing the arrival of Danny Ings in a £15million move from Aston Villa last weekend, Antonio has made it clear that he could be open to a move away from the London Stadium this month.
With last season’s Europa League semi-finalists also still linked with a move for Lorient striker Terem Moffi, the Jamaica international has recorded just five Premier League strikes over the past 12 months – with just two of those coming this season.
Likewise, with it appearing that summer recruit Gianluca Scamacca is Moyes’ number one option up top, Antonio does have plenty of top-flight suitors before the window slams shut.
Alongside interest from fellow relegation rivals Wolves and Everton, The Guardian have also reported that Chelsea attempted a shock swoop for the seven-cap international last week.
