Europe will try to get back on top of the Laver Cup after their 2022 shock loss to Team World.
This weekend, the sixth Laver Cup opens play in Vancouver, Canada where the event will be without any Big 3 players. Though tournament czar Roger Federer is expected to make a surprise appearance.
With many stars like Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev and most recently Stefanos Tsitsipas, the event is short on big names.
Here are the Laver Cup team rosters:
Team World
Taylor Fritz
Frances Tiafoe
Tommy Paul
Felix Auger-Aliassime
Ben Shelton
Francisco Cerundolo
Alternates: Christopher Eubanks, Milos Raonic
Team Europe
Andrey Rublev
Casper Ruud
Hubert Hurkacz
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina
Gael Monfils
Arthur Fils
Alternates: Jiri Lehecka, Stan Wawrinka
“It’s exciting that you’re seeing fresh faces on our side, maybe even more so on their side,” said Team World’s co-coach Patrick McEnroe.
“They’ve got Top-10 players, but they’ve also got guys like Gael Monfils, who’s going to bring a lot to the table, and Arthur Fils, who’s a young guy. It’s fun. You’re seeing the diversity of athletes, of players getting into the Laver Cup more and more. That just helps grow the event and grow the sport.”
Twelve matches will again be scheduled with four each day starting tomorrow. Three singles and one doubles with increasing points per day for each win.
