Women’s basketball caught by Mounties

FREDERICK, Md. – The Hood College women’s basketball team could not sneak past Mount Aloysius College, as the Mounties defeated the Blazers 66-51.
Inside the Box Score
Chanelle Lee (Brunswick, Md./Saint John’s Catholic Prep) finished with 16 points and tallied eight rebounds.
How it Happened
The Blazers trailed after a 9-2 run from the Mounties started the game and managed to cut the deficit to just three points when Manning and Lee combined for 10 points to make it a 15-12 game, but a few free throws for Mount Aloysius gave them the lead heading into the second quarter.
Hood kept pace with Mount Aloysius throughout the second, answering their six-point run with a 10-1 run of their own as Nyla Laniyonu (Lawrenceville, Ga./Arundel (Md.)) sparked the start of a comeback bid, and a shot from Demiah Austin (Glen Burnie, Md./Glen Burnie) at the buzzer cut the Mounties’ lead to 29-24.
Lee brought the Blazers within three points with the first basket of the second half, but back-to-back three-pointers from Angelina Kohlwaies would restore their double-digit lead, which they kept up entering the fourth.
Although a 7-2 for Hood a few minutes into the final frame started shifting the momentum, a few baskets in quick succession for Mount Aloysius kept the point total from swinging too far away from them.
For the Opponent
Jade Love-Morris totaled 18 points and eight rebounds.
Molly Kosmack ended the night with 13 points and nine rebouds, just shy of a double double.
