The City of Cape Town’s disaster risk management division is investigating the source of an extremely loud rumble or blast, which was heard by many people – from Mowbray to Parklands on Wednesday afternoon.
Speculation is that it was either a quarry blast or an earthquake.
“We are investigating – ourselves and fire services,” said the spokesperson for the disaster risk management division, Charlotte Powell.
