IPL 2024: MS Dhoni scripts history with 300 dismissals in T20 cricket

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) played their third match of IPL 2024 against Delhi Capitals (DC) on a Sunday at Visakhapatnam’s ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, and the evening proved to be memorable one for MS Dhoni fans.

DC set a challenging total against CSK

With the help of half-centuries from Rishabh Pant and David Warner, DC scored 191 runs for the five wickets and set a target of 192 for the Super Kings.

During the run chase, CSK made a very disappointing start. They lost the wickets of both their openers for just seven runs inside three overs. Experienced campaigners, Ajinkya Rahane and Daryl Mitchell stitched a 68-run partnership for the third wicket to put their team out of trouble.

Dhoni completes 300 dismissals in T20 cricket

Dhoni claimed his 300th dismissal in T20 cricket after taking a brilliant catch of DC opener Prithvi Shaw. The veteran wicketkeeper-batter, has achieved many records in his career, but this record will be very special to him as he is only player to do so.

Dhoni, aged 42, is still performing like youngsters on the cricket field and can add some more scalps to his name in the upcoming games.

Dhoni shines with the bat as well

During CSK’s run chase, Dhoni created a stir with the bat. Walking in to bat the 17th over, the former CSK skipper scored 37 runs in 16 balls, including 4 fours and three gigantic sixes.

Despite his quickfire knock, Dhoni was unable to guide his team to victory. However, his innings was enjoyed by the fans on social media. They took to X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram to share pictures and videos of their favourite cricketer.

Despite facing a defeat in Vizag, CSK remains at the second position in the points table.
