Japan to resume funding for U.N. Palestinian refugee agency


Japan will resume its funding for a U.N. agency to support Palestinian refugees, Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa told reporters on Tuesday.

The country had planned to contribute $35 million to the U.N. Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, or UNRWA. But the funding was suspended in January following accusations that staff at the agency had been involved in last year’s attack on Israel by the militant group Hamas.
