Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has officially announced his retirement from both international and domestic cricket, bringing an end to a storied career that spanned over two decades.

The 38-year-old opener made his announcement through an emotional video message on social media, where he expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported him throughout his journey. He specifically thanked his family, childhood coaches, teammates, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and the Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA).

Dhawan’s career is highlighted by his exceptional performances in ICC tournaments, earning him the nickname “Mr. ICC” among fans. He was particularly successful in One Day Internationals (ODIs), where he consistently delivered during key matches. His contributions include being the highest run-scorer for India in the 2013 and 2017 ICC Champions Trophy tournaments and the 2015 Cricket World Cup.

His decision to retire, though anticipated by many due to recent injuries, marks the conclusion of an illustrious career filled with memorable performances, including his explosive Test debut against Australia in 2013, where he scored 187 runs​
