India’s intense practice session begins, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli shine in nets (Watch video)
India National Cricket Team players are giving their sweat and blood to prepare themselves for the Test series against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. The two-match Test series between the teams will begin on 19th September at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Home team assembled in Chennai on Thursday (12th September) and started their preparations on Friday (13th September). The Rohit Sharma-led are giving their best and are making sure they leave no stone unturned in their preparation for the opening game of the series.
On Saturday (14th September), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared glimpses of the practice session of the team players. In the video that has gone viral on the internet, Indian players can be seen making the most out of the net sessions.
Batters, including Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, were also seen grinding hard, while bowlers, including Jasprit Bumrah, also worked hard. They were seen working with new bowling coach Morne Morkel, who was keen on observing the players at the Madras Stadium ahead of the first Test against Bangladesh.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted the video on their social media handles with the caption: “Preps in full swing here in Chennai! Inching closer to the #INDvsBAN Test opener.”

The series will be important for both the teams in context of the ICC World Test Championship. While India are placed at the top of the table, the Bangladesh National Cricket Team acquire the 4th spot after they recently whitewashed the Pakistan National Cricket Team in a two-match Test series.
Premier pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja, who were rested for the Sri Lanka series, will be making a comeback to the team after the T20 World Cup 2024. They would want to make a massive impact on their return to the team after a lengthy gap.
On the other hand, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, and Akash Deep played in the Duleep Trophy 2024. They had decent outings for their respective teams and would want to carry on their good form in international cricket and help the team win and gain important World Test Championship points.
This will be the first time that the Rohit Sharma-led side will be playing Test cricket since March this year. The Men In Blue locked horns with the England National Cricket Team in the five-match Test series. They won the game by the margin of 4-1 and would want to continue their good form in the Bangladesh Tests.
There were reports which claimed that hosts are unlikely to prepare rank turners for the first Test against Chennai. They want both their premier pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj to play and it is learned that the pitch at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai is likely to produce help for pace bowlers and spinners both.
