In a special event marking the success of the film 12th Fail, the Supreme Court of India hosted a screening on September 25, 2024. Attended by Chief Justice Dr. D Y Chandrachud, esteemed judges, over 600 officials, and their families, this screening celebrated the film’s 25-week-long theatrical run. The screening was followed by an exclusive interaction between the Chief Justice, filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, and the film’s key figures, IPS Manoj Kumar Sharma, IRS Officer Shraddha Joshi, and lead actors Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankar.

Chief Justice Chandrachud’s praise for 12th Fail
After the screening, Chief Justice Dr. D Y Chandrachud expressed his admiration for the film and its message. “Where we all seek inspiration, our society flourishes on hope, and each one of you has provided that—not just for this evening but for the whole nation,” he said. The Chief Justice emphasized how films like 12th Fail have the power to inspire and motivate people to rise above their circumstances and bring positive change to society.

An emotional connection to the story
Chief Justice Chandrachud spoke highly of the performances in the film, particularly those of Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankar. He commended the actors for authentically portraying the characters’ struggles, stating, “Both Vikrant and Medha have done a brilliant job… There were moments in the movie when I thought I’d need a hanky as my eyes were moist.” He also mentioned that the film left a profound impact, offering a strong message of hope and determination.
