Holger Rune reveals who his best friends are on the Tour
In a video shared on the social media of the Los Gonzalez de Tour profile, managed by the Mexican tennis player Santiago Gonzalez and his very young children, Holger Rune said he has a good bond with Carlos Alcaraz, with whom he has shared a lot of time since the junior tournaments.
The Dane then mentioned two other peers: the Italians Lorenzo Musetti and Luca Nardi. Holger also answered other funny questions from the two young interviewers, revealing that his biggest idols are Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

2024 has certainly been a year below expectations for the Dane. Accomplices to the negative results, with only one ATP final reached, the current number 13 in the ATP world ranking has frequently changed his coaches, now returning with his historic coach, Lars Christensen, the first coach of his career, the latest in a series of coaches that included Patrick Mouratoglou, Boris Becker, Severin Luhti, Patrick Mouratoglou again, Benjamin Ebrahimzadeh Rezayeh, Kenneth Carlsen, alongside the Dane.
“I have learned a lot from all the coaches. After working with the same coach for 15 years, I think it was important for me to try something different and get inspired by others to then figure out what was best for my game and my career. If I hadn’t done it at that time, I would have definitely needed to do it at another time. Now I have tried different approaches and all of them have been inspiring: they either work or they don’t. We all try to become the best tennis player we can be and we know when we are fulfilling our potential or not. Now I know much better what I need and what works for me. Honestly, I would have deserved to be in the top 7 or 8 based on my results at the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023. But reaching the #4 ranking was not the result of my hard work, but a gift due to the results of the other players above me who didn’t defend their points from the previous year.
At the time, I wasn’t ready, my game wasn’t top 4 and neither was my mentality. Now I feel like I have much more experience and that’s important because you have to adapt in the right way to stay at that level. Some people do it faster than others, I feel comfortable in all aspects of the game now. That makes the mental aspect less demanding and generates energy to develop my game again. So now I feel good in everything. I like playing against Sinner, they are always high-level matches. He is very professional in everything he does. Of course I like it more when I win, like in Munich last year. Matches like that can be tough, but it’s still fun to play. As for Italy, I like it a lot, as I like the Italians. They have a lot of passion, which is perhaps a bit lacking in Scandinavia. I have a lot of passion when I play and I think that’s why I like Italy so much, the fans transmit the energy that we all like,” he said in an interview with QuindiciZero, some weeks ago.
