Ponnala slams Congress government’s half-hearted approach to the underprivileged

Hyderabad: Questioning the need for any fresh socio-economic surveys in the State, given the extensive data already available from the comprehensive survey conducted by the previous government in 2014, senior BRS leader Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Tuesday came down heavily on the Congress government‘s plans to conduct a socio-economic and caste survey in Telangana.

Lakshmaiah labeled the new survey, which includes a 75-point questionnaire, a mere publicity stunt. He pointed out that the previous survey, with its 95-point questionnaire, involved over four lakh personnel and was completed in a single day. This comprehensive survey, he argued, provided ample data to address the needs of various castes deserving reservations.

Lauding the efforts made by of K Chandrashekhar Rao during his tenure as Chief Minister for translating the concept of BC reservations into reality with a true commitment to the underprivileged and disadvantaged communities, Lakshmaiah also questioned the fate of the Kamareddy declaration by the Congress party, suggesting that its BC outreach stunt was merely a ploy to gain the support of BC voters in states like Maharashtra and Jharkhand, which are heading for polls.
