Following this head coach Gautam Gambhir came under massive scanner for his poor coaching. There have been various reports which claimed that the pitches were prepared as per the suggestions of the head coach, and even he played a massive part in team selection.

Gautam Gambhir will be given the Australia series to prove his worth

As per the reports Gambhir will be given the Australia series to prove his worth. If the India National Cricket Team fails to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, he might have to face the circumstances for his poor outing as the coach of the national team.

A source close to BCCI claimed that if India fails to win in Australia, then Gautam Gambhir may have to let go of the responsibility of the Test team. Speaking to MyKhel, he explained:

“If it doesn’t work, he may have to let go of the Test team responsibility for the sake of the country. It is, again, all speculation. We will cross the bridge when it comes.”

VVS Laxman will take over the responsibility of the red-ball team if Gautam Gambhir fails to make a mark in Australia

There were reports earlier that claimed that India is exploring the option of having two coaches for white ball and red ball teams. But it was Gambhir who wanted to coach the team in all formats, and he was given the role of head coach after he bargained for it.

However, the talks might happen once again after Gautam Gambhir’s poor performances as the coach of the India National Cricket Team. The source claimed that if he fails to make an impact then VVS Laxman will take over the responsibility of the red-ball team. He explained:

“If morning shows the day, this arrangement may not work as we think it should. Let him continue as the white ball team coach while the Test team could be taken care of by a stalwart like VVS Laxman.”

VVS Laxman, who is the head of the National Cricket Academy, has been coaching the Indian team whenever the main coaching staff has been rested. He will also be taking control of the team in the upcoming T20I series against the South Africa National Cricket Team.
