How it Happened
The Blazers conducted a fair start to begin the match against Messiah. Preceding the tip, the Falcons knocked two shots back-to-back to gain an early four-point lead. The Blazers would trail closely throughout the series as Maya Gordon (Towson, Md./Loch Raven High School) would knockdown two free throws followed by a three-pointer with less than five minutes left in the quarter. Capitalizing off the Falcon turnover, just thirty-seconds later Taylor made a layup to bring the Blazers within three. Heading into the second half the score was 11-16 in favor of Messiah.

The second quarter swung in favor of the Blazers as Hood led in scoring 15-8. Digging up from the three-point deficit Hood went on a nine-point run cutesy of Tiffany Manning (Randallstown, Md./Western Tech), Gordon, Taylor, Lee and Johnson. The Falcons struggled to knock down shots to keep their initial lead as the Blazers’ tough defense allowed for two scores off turnovers. To close out the quarter Gordon made two crucial free throws to seal the Blazers lead 26-24 at the end of the first half.

Although Hood’s first half scoring efforts put them in the lead, the Falcons fired back in the third quarter.
