Carlos Alcaraz arrives in Barcelona and makes huge confession about his current level

Carlos Alcaraz has just won his first title in Monte Carlo, making the difference in the decisive moments of the tournament although he has not played his best tennis for most of the week. The red clay tends to enhance the 21-year-old Spaniard's game, but he too needs a period of adaptation and has had to face several difficulties in the Principality.
The former world No.1 – who won the sixth Masters 1000 of his young career – was also a break behind Lorenzo Musetti in the final, before dominating the second half of the match also due to a leg injury suffered by the Italian ace.
Carlitos wants to raise his level
The new world No. 2 won't have much time to celebrate his triumph in Monte Carlo because he will play in Barcelona this week, trying to lift the trophy for the third time in the prestigious ATP 500 in Catalonia.
The champion from Murcia does not have to defend points in Barcelona, having had to miss the 2024 edition of this event due to a forearm injury. Carlitos – who has already arrived in Catalonia and started practicing – met the media today reviewing his victory in Monte Carlo and his current level.
"I'm not expressing my best tennis, I'm convinced I can play much better than I did in Monte Carlo. Winning is one thing, playing well is another" – explained the 4-time Grand Slam champion.
"My level wasn't that high last week, I had to deal with a lot of tough moments and I'm happy to have shown my mental strength. It's not easy to play well on this surface right away, but my goal is to improve progressively," he added.
The Spaniard knows that he must continue to improve to stem the rise of young talents: "Mensik is very young but he has already won a Masters 1000, Joao Fonseca is also growing quickly and I love his game. I faced Arthur Fils in Monte Carlo and I was impressed with his level. It's a positive moment for our sport."
