Over the years, producer Ektaa Kapoor has cast several Bigg Boss contestants in her television shows, and this season turned out to be no exception. During her recent visit to the Bigg Boss 19 house, she offered acting roles to Tanya Mittal and music composer Amaal Mallik. Soon after the episode aired, Reddit users resurfaced an old conversation in which Tanya spoke about her desire to work with lesser-known filmmakers rather than established industry names.
When Tanya Mittal said she didn’t want to work with big directors
In a podcast released in February, Tanya was asked whether she planned to pursue films. She explained that she had already received multiple offers for movies and music videos but had not signed anything because she wanted to “work for everyone” and didn’t want fame to become her priority. She added that she preferred not to chase recognition or money.
When asked which director she hoped to collaborate with, Tanya said she would rather support new talent: “Log hamesha Karan Johar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, bade naam lekar bade logon ke peeche bhagte hain. Main chaahungi koi aisa chota director ho jismein talent ho aur usko nahi mil rahi ho koi aur badi heroine, toh main uske liye free kaam karun aur uska talent bahar aaye.” (“People always run after big names like Karan Johar or Sanjay Leela Bhansali. I would prefer to work with a small director who has real talent but isn’t getting a big heroine. I would happily work for free so that their talent can shine.”) She continued,
“Mujhe kisi bade aadmi se nahi milna, kisi bade aadmi ke saath kaam nahi karna. Mujhe chote logon ke liye kaam karna hai aur unhe bada banana hai. Money and fame is not my purpose.” (“I don’t want to meet big, influential people or work with them. I want to work with people who are still small and help them grow. Reddit reacts to Tanya’s old statements
Reddit users had a humorous response to the resurfaced video. One joked, “Chalo, ab Ektaa Kapoor ka career ban jayega.” Another wondered whether Tanya would refuse Ektaa’s offer by saying she didn’t want fame or money. Some users also called her contradictory for expressing concerns about “just” 3.7 million Instagram followers despite claiming she didn’t seek fame.

During Weekend Ka Vaar, Ektaa Kapoor offered roles to Tanya Mittal and Amaal Mallik in one of her upcoming TV shows. Tanya responded enthusiastically, saying, “It’s a dream come true, ma’am.” Host Salman Khan playfully teased her, joking that the role was of a poor girl and she might struggle to portray it. Tanya nevertheless looked thrilled and was seen celebrating after the episode.
