Odisha approves 20 new industrial projects worth Rs 4,353 crore across 11 districts; 7,815 jobs on cards

In a significant boost to Odisha’s industrial expansion and employment landscape, the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) has approved 20 new industrial projects with a combined investment of Rs 4,353 crore. The clearances were granted during the Authority’s 142nd meeting, chaired by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja.

According to the government, the projects will be established across 11 districts: Angul, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Khordha, Koraput, Puri, Sambalpur and Sundargarh, ensuring regionally balanced growth. Collectively, these units are expected to generate 7,815 employment opportunities, offering a major push to industrial job creation in both coastal and western Odisha.

One of the most prominent proposals approved is a floating solar power project in the Sundargarh district. The project, to be developed by NTPC-SAIL Power Company Limited, involves an investment of Rs 710.27 crore and is expected to significantly strengthen the state’s renewable energy capacity.

Another key project among the approvals is the Rs 600 crore iron ore beneficiation plant by Rashmi Metallurgical Industry Private Limited in Keonjhar, aimed at enhancing Odisha’s mineral processing capabilities.

The approved projects span multiple sectors, including chemicals, electronics, aluminum downstream, tourism, infrastructure, IT and IT-enabled services, food processing, power and renewable energy. Officials said the wide sectoral spread reflects the state’s strategy to diversify its industrial base while enabling sustained economic growth.

With Odisha continuing to position itself as a preferred investment destination, the government said the latest approvals demonstrate its proactive approach to industrial facilitation and ease of doing business. Authorities emphasised that the investments would not only strengthen the state’s manufacturing and services ecosystem but also unlock new career opportunities across various skill levels.

The government added that the establishment of these units across different regions would help reduce regional disparities and contribute to inclusive development. Once operational, the 20 projects are expected to play a key role in accelerating Odisha’s industrial momentum in the coming years.
