A decade old at this point, The Martian remains the highest-grossing movie that Matt Damon has headlined, and Ridley Scott has directed. The movie was based on the best-selling novel by Andy Weir, and featured a star-studded cast that also included Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jeff Daniels, Kristen Wiig, Jessica Chastain, and more. But the majority of the movie was powered purely by Damon’s star-wattage. The Martian wasn’t just a box office hit, it was also a major success during the awards season, going on to earn a nomination in the Best Picture category. While the movie has only grown in stature over the years, there’s always going to be a generation that hasn’t experienced its bombastic thrills. And that generation is in luck, because the movie is heading to Peacock in December.
