Veteran actor Zeenat Aman has joined the growing tributes pouring in for Dharmendra, who passed away on November 24 at the age of 89 at his Mumbai residence. The legendary star, remembered as one of Hindi cinema’s most enduring icons, died less than two weeks after being discharged from Breach Candy Hospital, where he had been admitted after experiencing breathlessness.
On Monday, Zeenat Aman posted a series of throwback photos with Dharmendra on Instagram, accompanied by an emotional note reflecting on their long association. Calling his death the loss of a “jewel from the Hindi film industry,” she wrote, “Dharam ji was always amongst my favourite co-stars, and I am blessed to have worked alongside him in a number of movies.”
Aman highlighted Dharmendra’s gentle nature and grounded presence on film sets, qualities she said brought comfort to her as someone who identifies as an introvert. “For an introverted personality such as myself, his down to earth demeanour and natural kindness were a warm comfort on set,” she recalled. At moments when the showbiz environment felt overwhelming, she found his authenticity reassuring. “A sweet reminder that life is about the real things, not the fluff.”
She concluded her message by offering condolences to Dharmendra’s family, noting that his legacy continues to be celebrated across generations. “May it be of some solace that his legacy is cherished by millions of Indians around the world.”
