Srinagar, Dec 3: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday ordered a consolidated set of instructions governing the sanctioning of ex-gratia relief under the Security Related Expenditure (SRE).
The order in this regard has been issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) in amplification of the previous orders issued regarding the grant of ex-gratia relief to the persons affected by the Law and Order (L&O) disturbances.
As per the order, the revised compensation covers magistrates, Police Personnel, SPOs, ex-servicemen and people with permanent disability as well as partial disability.
It has been issued by the orders of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
The Magistrates killed in the line of duty will receive an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh, while the families of Police personnel and Special Police Officers (SPOs) will receive Rs 5 lakh, and Rs 2 lakh will be provided in case of the death of ex-servicemen during operations.
Also, Rs 75,000 have been entitled for persons with permanent disability and Rs 10,000 has been kept for persons with partial disability.
Also, the non-domicile CAPFs are entitled to Rs 5 lakh upon death, while the J&K domiciles who die either within or outside J&K are eligible for Rs 25 lakh as ex-gratia relief.
However, the compensation for persons with permanent and partial disability remains at Rs 75,000 and Rs 10,000.
The government employees, other than Police personnel, are entitled to ex-gratia relief of Rs 1 lakh, while Rs 75,000 has been kept for persons with permanent disability.
Those who will receive serious injuries in the hospitalisation for more than 24 hours are entitled for compensation of Rs 500, Rs 5000, and Rs 10,000 depending on severity and duration of hospitalisation.
As per the order, the civilians killed along the International Border (IB) or Line of Control (LoC) or surrendered militants and former informers will receive a uniform ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh, while the compensation for injuries varies from Rs 75,000 for permanent disability and other meagre amounts for other injuries.
The ex-gratia relief in case of the death of defence personnel from J&K has been fixed as Rs 5 lakh.
However, those who will lose their life within the territorial limits of J&K will receive Rs 25 lakh as relief, while those who lost their lives outside J&K will receive Rs 5 lakh.
The administration has also included compensation for damage to immovable property caused by bomb blasts, any kind of sabotage or damage caused due to shelling or firing on the IB or LoC.
Relief has been fixed as 50 percent of the loss or Rs 1 lakh, whichever is less or Rs 10 lakh or actual damage, whichever is less – Rs 7 lakh for immovable property plus Rs 3 lakh for movable property.
