With the 2025 National Women’s Soccer League season coming to a close — congratulations to Gotham FC on the club’s second-ever league championship — teams across the league are making moves. This offseason, two clubs will join the fold: Boston Legacy FC and Denver Summit FC.

Keep up with all the signings and deals with our 2025-26 NWSL Offseason Transfer Tracker. Where applicable, we’ll also provide insight into what’s happening to give you the deeper context you expect from The Equalizer, leaders in women’s soccer coverage since 2009.

NC Courage extends Riley Jackson through 2028

(December 3, 2025) The North Carolina Courage have announced a contract extension with midfielder Riley Jackson through 2028. The deal is a three-year contract. In 2025, Jackson played the fourth-most minutes on the Courage, starting 23 of 25 matches. She joined the Courage in 2023, but didn’t play her first match until 2024. In two seasons, she has scored two goals and provided one assist.

Denver Summit signs Abby Smith through 2027

(December 3, 2025) Denver Summit FC announced the signing of goalkeeper Abby Smith to a two-year contract, through the 2027 NWSL season. Smith’s contract also includes a mutual option for 2028. Smith began her NWSL career in 2016 with the Boston Breakers, and also also featured for the Utah Royals, Kansas City Current, Portland Thorns, Gotham FC and, most recently, the Houston Dash. Smith has made 68 starts in 69 regular-season appearances. In the NWSL, she has logged 16 clean sheets. She also spent time in Australia with the Western Sydney Wanderers. She was on two NWSL Championship-winning teams: Gotham FC (2023) and Portland Thorns (2022).

Kansas City signs defender Katie Scott through 2027

(December 3, 2025) The Kansas City Current have announced the signing of defender Katie Scott on a two-year contract, through the 2027 NWSL season. Scott made her professional debut on July 12 in the Teal Rising Cup, against Palmeiras. She also faced off against Corinthians in the tournament. She featured in 159 minutes during both matches. In addition, she made her first NWSL start and debut on Sept. 26 against the Chicago Stars. Prior to joining the Current, Scott featured in one collegiate season for Penn State in 2024.

Chicago signs forward Ryan Gareis through 2028

(December 3, 2025) Chicago Stars FC announced the signing of forward Ryan Gareis on a three-year contract, through the 2028 NWSL season. Gareis began her career in 2022 with the Houston Dash. She made 24 starts in 53 appearances, scoring one goal and providing five assists. The forward originally hails from Naperville, Illinois, about an hour away from Chicago.

Boston Legacy sign Sophia Lowenberg through 2027

(December 3, 2025) Boston Legacy FC have announced the signing of Boston College alum Sophia Lowenberg on a two-year contract, through the 2027 NWSL season. Lowenberg’s contract also includes a club option for 2028. The Connecticut native featured in 67 matches for Boston College. The midfielder recorded seven goals and two assists in four seasons. She started 41 matches for Boston College.

San Diego announces end of season roster updates

(December 2, 2025)  San Diego Wave FC announced its end of season roster updates. The club has 18 players signed at least through the 2026 NWSL season, including: Hillary Beall, DiDi Haračić, Kailen Sheridan, Daniela Arias, Hanna Lundkvist, Nya Harrison, Quincy McMahon, Perle Morroni, Kennedy Wesley, Kimmi Ascanio, Gia Corley, Kenza Dali, Laurina Fazer, Jordan Fusco, Delphine Cascarino, Dudinha, Adriana Leon and Makenzy Robbe. According to the Wave, who will be competing in the 7-v-7 World Sevens Football Tournament in Florida from Dec. 5-7, “defender Kristen McNabb and forward Melanie Barcenas will be in attendance but not dressing for the matches in the tournament.”

Orlando Pride sign Hailie Mace through 2028

(December 2, 2025) The Orlando Pride announced the signing of free agent defender Hailie Mace, to a three-year contract through the 2028 NWSL season. Mace joins Orlando after spending the last four seasons with the Kansas City Current. Mace joined Kansas City in 2022, after spending the 2021 season split between the North Carolina Courage and Kansas City. Mace has made 81 starts in 105 NWSL seasons. She also spent time in Europe, featuring for Rosengård in 2019 and Kirstianstad in 2020, in Sweden.

NC Courage announce end of season roster updates

(December 2, 2025) The North Carolina Courage have announced its end of season roster update. The Courage have 19 players under contract at least through 2026, including: Marisa Jordan, Maycee Bell, Broolyn Courtnall, Natalie Jacobs, Feli Rauch, Sydney Schmidt, Natalia Staude, Ryan Williams, Riley Jackson, Shinomi Koyama, Manaka Matsukubo, Denise O’Sullivan, Oli Peña, Ashley Sanchez, Dani Weatherholt, Hannah Betfort, Aline Gomes, Payton Linnehan and Cortnee Vine. Players out of contract, or exploring free agency, include: Charlotte McLean, Victoria Pickett, Katie Cappelletti, Tyler Lussi, Heather MacNab, Casey Murphy, Brianna Pinto, Meredith Speck a

nd Olivia Wingate.  

Chicago Stars announce end of season roster updates

(December 2, 2025) Chicago Stars FC announced its end of season roster updates. A total of 20 players are under contract with the Stars as of Dec. 2, 2025, including: Halle Mackiewicz, Mackenzie Wood, Hannah Anderson, Samantha Angel, Kathrin Hendrich, Natalia Kuikka, Taylor Malham, Sam Staab, Bea Franklin, Julia Grosso, Manaka Hayashi, Maitane, Leilanni Nesbeth, Brianna Pinto, Jenna Bike, Ivonne Chacón, Micayla Johnson, Jameese Joseph, Ludmila and Mallory Swanson. Players out of contract, or exploring free agency, include: Meg Boade, Stephanie Sparkowski, Ally Schlegel, Camryn Biegalski, Ava Cook, Nádia Gomes, Shea Groom, Alyssa Naeher and Cari Roccaro.

Racing Louisville signs Jordyn Bloomer through 2028

(December 2, 2025) Jordyn Bloomer is staying in Louisville. The goalkeeper has signed a three-year contract to remain with Racing Louisville through the 2028 NWSL season. Bloomer became Louisville’s starter in May 2025, beating incumbent goalkeeper Katie Lund. In 2025, Bloomer started 20 matches, allowing 26 goals and recording 79 saves. She earned five clean sheets.

Laurel Ivory announces departure from Kansas City

(December 2, 2025) Goalkeeper Laurel Ivory has announced her departure from the Kansas City Current after

one year. She made two regular-season appearances for the Current, facing off with Racing Louisville on Aug. 1, and Bay FC on Sept. 6. Ivory began her career with the Seattle Reign in 2022.

Utah Royals sign Madison Hammond through 2027

(December 2, 2025) Utah Royals FC announced the signing of free agent midfielder Madison Hammond through the 2027 NWSL season. She began her professional career with Reign FC in 2021 where she started 10 of 13 matches. She then signed with Angel City FC, where she remained the last four years. In Los Angeles, she started 40 matches and featured in 72 games. Hammond has one career goal and one career assist.

Angel City extends Nealy Martin through 2027

(December 2, 2025) Angel City FC announced the contract extension of midfielder Nealy Martin. The midfielder joined Angel City from Gotham FC in September 2025, and featured in Angel City’s final six matches of the regular season. Martin began her professional career in 2021 with Racing Louisville, where she remained for two seasons. She then joined Gotham from 2023-25, where she helped the team win its first-ever NWSL Championship in 2023.

Portland Thorns issue end of season roster update

(December 2, 2025). After

finishing the 2025 season with an 11-8-7 record, the Portland Thorns dropped their end of season roster update. Notably, four players will enter free agency — Kaitlyn Torpey, Nicole Payne, Naomi Powell and Olivia Katoa. The team is in discussions with Sophia Wilson, who missed the 2025 season on maternity leave and has a player option for 2026. Laila Harbert will also return to Arsenal, as her loan period has ended.

Utah Royals sign Miyabi Moriya to salary cap-exempt contract for 2026

(December 2, 2025). The Utah Royals announced they will sign Japanese defender Miyabi Moriya to a salary cap-exempt contract for the 2025 NWSL season. She recently finished her first year in the NWSL with Angel City FC. She has 14 total caps for the Japanese women’s national team.

NC Courage re-sign Dani Weatherholt through 2026

(December 1, 2025) The North Carolina Courage have re-signed Dani Weatherholt to a one-year contract through the 2026 NWSL season. Weatherholt joined the Courage in 2024, and has recorded 33 appearances across two seasons. Throughout her 10-year NWSL career, Weatherholt has amassed 166 NWSL regular-season appearances.

Orlando Pride announce end of season roster update

(December 1, 2025) The Orlando Pride have announced its end of season roster decisions, with a few players embarking to new teams or testing free agency. Officially out o

f contract are: Amanda Allen, Morgan Gautrat, Mariana Larroquette, Aryssa Mahrt, Elyse Bennett, Simone Charley, Carson Pickett and Bri Martinez. Ally Watt was on loan with the Pride after signing with Denver Summit in the summer. Orlando has 23 players under contract:Kerry Abello, Kat Asman (LOAN), Barbra Banda (SEI), Luana, Grace Chanda, Zara Chavoshi, Angelina, McKinley Crone, Julie Doyle, Cori Dyke, Oihane, Simone Jackson, Ally Lemos, Haley McCutcheon, Cosette Morché, Anna Moorhouse, Kylie Nadaner, Jacquie Ovalle, Emily Sams, Rafaelle, Marta, Viviana Villacorta and Summer Yates. 

Chicago signs free agent Brianna Pinto through 2027

(December 1, 2025) Chicago Stars FC announced the signing of free agent midfielder Brianna Pinto. Pinto signed a two-year contract with the Stars, through the 2027 NWSL season. She spent the last four seasons with the North Carolina Courage, where she recorded eight goals in 71 appearances. She was originally drafted by Gotham FC in 2021, where she spent one season.

Racing Louisville announce end of season roster update

(November 26, 2025) On the heels of the club’s first-ever berth in the NWSL Playoffs, Racing Louisville announced it will bring back 17 players for the 2026 season: Jordyn Bloomer, Cristina Roque, Ellie Jean, Lauren Milliet, Makenna Morris, Courtney Petersen, Arin Wright, Savannah DeMelo, Taylor Flint, Katie O’Kane, Milly Clegg, Kayla Fischer, Ella Hase, Emma Sears, Janine Sonis, Sarah Weber and Kirsten Wright. The following players will enter free agency and will not re-sign with Racing: Jordan Baggett, Bethany Balcer, Allie George, Uchenna Kanu, Katie Lund and Madison White. Racing remains in negotiations to sign other returning players.

Jess Fishlock re-signs with the Seattle Reign

(November 24, 2025) Seattle Reign FC announced the signing of veteran midfielder and club legend Jess Fishlock to a one-year contract through the 2026 NWSL season. Fishlock, who has been a member of the Reign since its inaugural 2013 season, finished the 2025 regular season with eight starts in 17 appearances, totaling a team-high six goals plus two assists.

Hina Sugita extends with Angel City through 2029

(November 18, 2025) Angel City FC announced that it has extended the contract of Japanese international midfielder Hina Sugita through the end of the 2029 season. This is a three-year extension on her previous contract, which was due to end after the 2026 season. Since signing with ACFC on September 30th via a trade from the Portland Thorns, Sugita started in the club’s final four matches of the regular season, playing 90 minutes in each. Sugita entered the NWSL in 2022 with the Thorns, helping the club capture the 2022 NWSL Championship in her debut season.

Denver Summit signs Megan Reid through 2028

(November 17, 2025) Denver Summit FC announced the signing of free agent defender Megan Reid to a three year contract, through the 2028 NWSL season. The Canadian women’s national team defender spent four seasons with Angel City FC, where she made 81 appearances, across all competitions. In her rookie season, in 2022, she achieved NWSL Ironwoman status. She featured collegiately at the University of Virginia.

Denver Summit signs Kaleigh Kurtz through 2028

(November 13, 2025) Denver Summit FC announced the signing of free agent defender Kaleigh Kurtz, to a three-year deal, through the 2028 NWSL season. Kurtz, the NWSL record-setting Ironwoman, joined the Summit after spending eight years with the North Carolina Courage. She won two NWSL Championships, two NWSL Shields and two NWSL Challenge Cups with the Courage. She has been an NWSL Ironwoman for four years in a row.

Chicago re-sign Julia Grosso through 2028

(November 4, 2025) Chicago Stars FC announced the re-signing of Canadian women’s national team midfielder, Julia Grosso, through 2028. Grosso originally signed with the Chicago Stars in July 2024, committing to Chicago through 2026. During the 2025 regular season, Grosso recorded a team-high 25 chances created and 251 passes into the final third, the second-best passing average among Chicago Stars players (85.06%), and two goals and three assists in 24 matches played.

Boston Legacy sign Brazilian Amanda Gutierres from Palmeiras through 2029

(October 3, 2025) Boston Legacy announced the signing of Brazilian international forward Amanda Gutierres via permanent pre-transfer for an agreed upon transfer fee paid to Palmeiras. She will join the Legacy in January upon the opening of the 2026 transfer window and be contracted until December 2029. She was recently nominated for the 2025 Ballon d’Or Féminin and is a regular for the Brazilian National Team. Gutierres played a key role in securing Brazil’s victorious 2025 Copa América Femenina, finishing as joint top scorer of the competition with six goals.

Chloe Ricketts signs three-year contract with Boston

(October 1, 2025) Boston Legacy announced the signing of Chloe Ricketts on a pre-contract agreement from the Washington Spirit. The 18-year-old forward will join Boston following the conclusion of the 2025 NWSL season. She’s on contract through 2028 with a mutual option for 2029. Ricketts will spend the remainder of the current NWSL season on a short-term deal with the Houston Dash.

Denver Summit signs Spanish forward Nahikari García through 2027

(September 4, 2025) Denver Summit FC announced the signing of Spanish international Nahikari García, the club’s first international acquisition, to a multi-year deal through the 2027 season. The 28-year-old is a proven goalscorer with more than a decade of experience in Spain’s top flight. She will go on loan to Nottingham Forest Women FC for the remainder of the 2025 season before joining the club ahead of its inaugural NWSL season in 2026.

Bárbara Olivieri transferred to Boston Legacy, loaned to Tigres UANL for rest of 2025

(August 22, 2025) Boston Legacy FC have acquired Venezuela midfielder Bárbara Olivieri from the Houston Dash, the clubs announced on Friday. The transfer fee could rise to as much as $165,000, pending certain performance-based targets. Houston will receive $50,000 in intra-league transfer funds for this season, $50,000 in intra-league transfer funds for 2026, and $30,000 in conditional expansion allocation money and $35,000 in conditional intra-league transfer funds. Olivieri, 23, has been loaned to Tigres UANL in Liga MX Femenil for the remainder of the 2025 season.

Denver acquires midfielder Lourdes Bosch from Melbourne City FC

(August 21, 2025) Denver Summit FC announced the acquisition of midfielder Lourdes Bosch from Australian A-League Women’s club Melbourne City FC for an agreed-upon transfer fee. Bosch signed a contract through the 2027 season and will be immediately loaned to Liga MX Femenil’s C.F. Monterrey Femenil. The 24-year-old attacking midfielder will join Denver for preseason in early 2026. 

Ally Watt transferred to Denver Summit FC, loaned back to Orlando Pride for remainder of 2025

(August 13, 2025) Forward Ally Watt has been transferred to Denver Summit FC and will be immediately loaned back to the Orlando Pride for the remainder of the 2025 season, the club officially announced. The Pride will receive $75,000 in expansion allocation money that can be used through 2027, as well as $37,500 in intraleague transfer funds. Salary cap relief was a condition of the agreement. Watt, 28, becomes the Summit’s first-ever signing. ESPN first reported the news on August 4.

Boston Legacy FC signs American midfielder Aleigh Gambone

(August 11, 2025) Boston Legacy FC have signed American midfielder Aleigh Gambone to a contract through the 2027 NWSL season. Gambone has been loaned to FC Nürnberg Frauen through the end of 2025, as Boston will begin league play next year. Gambone featured collegiately for No

rth Carolina before signing her first professional contract in Denmark with Fortuna Hjørring. She also featured for Glasgow City from 2023-25.

Boston Legacy FC signs Spanish midfielder Alba Caño through 2027

(July 31, 2025) Boston Legacy FC announced the signing of midfielder Alba Caño, a 21-year-old Spanish international. She joins Boston from FC Barcelona, where she made four senior team appearances in 2024-25. Her contract is through the 2027 NWSL season, with an option for 2028. She is a member of the Spanish U-19 team.

Mali international Aïssata Traoré signs with Boston Legacy

(July 10, 2025) Boston Legacy FC signed Mali international Aïssata Traoré to a three-year contract, running through the 2028 NWSL season. Traoré will remain on loan with her current club in the French top flight, FC Fleury 91, until she joins the Legacy for the 2026 preseason as the first-ever player from Mali to sign in the NWSL. 

Boston Legacy signs first-ever player, Annie Karich

(July 2, 2025) Ahead of their inaugural season, Boston Legacy FC announced they signed their first-ever player, American midfielder Annie Karich. Karich signed as a free agent from SC Freiburg of the Frauen-Bundesliga through the end of the 2027 season, with an option for 2028. The 21-year-old is on loan to a to-be-announced Liga MX Femenil club for the remainder of 2025 and will join Boston for preseason in January.
